Here's what's hoped for after the first playtest. Everything below is coming — nothing on this page is built yet. The final v1 list will be shaped by what the boss (the kid) asks for during her playtest.
Coming in v1
Dye-able collars coming
Right now each cat's collar color is fixed. Next version: dye a tamed cat's collar any color you like, for real.
Cat toys coming
Things to play with together — yarn balls and more. This one needs brand-new game scripting.
Natural spawning coming
Today the cats only appear from spawn eggs (plus the welcome six). Next: cats showing up on their own in the world.
Surprise kittens coming
Breed two different cats — like a Galaxy Cat and a Cotton Candy Cat — and the kitten might be a fun surprise mix.
The big dream: the Marketplace
Someday: Minecraft Marketplace far future
The long-term dream is sharing Cat Tales on the official Minecraft Marketplace for everyone. It's a big step: before any submission, all the cat textures have to be redrawn from scratch as original art (today's are recolors of the game's own cat textures — fine for family play, not original enough for the Marketplace), and applying to the creator program is a grown-up decision that hasn't been made yet. For now, it stays a family treat.
